Not too dissimilar to penne, zitti is shorter and thicker than its quilled counterpart. Zitti pasta has square angles, so they look longer and perfectly tubular whereas penne pasta is always cut at an angle. Taking only 5-8 minutes to cook, this range of pasta is a great option for pasta and dried sauce concepts, or to simply reduce the cook time within your process.
A cylindrical, tube-shaped pasta that is straight-cut on both ends. It is usually about 2 inches in length, making it a medium-sized pasta shape.
Texture & Cooking
Our Quick Cook Zitti has a smooth surface, which allows it to hold sauces evenly. Its hollow centre makes it an ideal choice for sauces that need to penetrate and cling to the pasta.
Zitti pairs well with a variety of sauces, including:
- Tomato-based sauces: Zitti’s tube shape is excellent for capturing chunky tomato sauces with vegetables, meats, or seafood.
- Creamy sauces: Zitti complements creamy sauces like Alfredo or cheese-based sauces, creating a satisfying and rich pasta dish.
